Being patient is hard. Being compassionate is hard. Being an advocate for the poor, the foreigner, and the non-traditional families is hard.
Jesus invites us to take up our cross and follow. Jesus calls us to love our neighbor. Jesus calls us to work on the weightier matters of justice, not just worry about ourselves and our salvation.
It does get easier if we do these together.
